Hike With A Ranger
Explore Copper Mountain on a free guided nature hike to explore the mountain, hosted by Friends of the Dillon Ranger District.
When: Saturdays and Sundays (check website for start/end dates)
Where: Participants will meet at the base of the American Eagle Lift in Center Village.
Hike Details: The hike is a total of 3.8 miles for a duration of 2.5 hours, with short stops along the way. The terrain can be rocky and muddy and is mainly downhill. This hike will include a scenic chairlift ride on the Woodward Express Lift. From the top of Woodward Express, we will hike down a road past the Timberline lift to begin on the Chickaree Way Trail. The hike will finish and start in Center Village. Along the way, a ranger will provide historical information about the area and the local ecology.
Please come prepared with sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hat, and water. Participants in this activity must meet the following provisions:
Minimum age of 8 yrs old, unless being carried by an adult
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
No dogs are allowed on the hike
Must be able to navigate unpaved, rocky, wet, and variable terrain
Have NO neck, back, joint, heart, or lung problems
have NO other pre-existing injuries or illnesses
Have NO medical conditions or recent surgery
Hike with a Ranger is FREE, however there are limited spaces available. Please sign up in advance to reserve your place. If you are signing up multiple people online, EACH PERSON in your party must be registered INDIVIDUALLY. In the event that this activity fills up, an alternative participant list will be generated on a first come basis and be used to fill any cancellations or no-shows for this activity.
