Vonn restarts her racing career at Copper Mountain
December 8, 2024
After nearly six years in retirement, Lindsey Vonn, 40, returned to the start gate for Copper Mountain Resort’s FIS Fall Festival on Saturday. Vonn competed in the downhill race at Copper on Saturday, placing 24th in the first race and 27th in the second.
Austria’s Mirjam Puchner won the first race in a time of 1 minutes, 5.79 seconds while Cornelia Huetter, also of Austria, won the second race in 1:05.99. Vonn trailed Puchner by 1.44 seconds and Huetter by 1.53 seconds.
Vonn is scheduled to return to the start gate on Sunday when she competes in the women’s Super-G. Vonn is competing in lower-level FIS races in an effort to gain the necessary results to lower her ranking for future World Cup events this season.
