COPPER MOUNTAIN UNVEILS NEW ART INSTALLATION BY LAMONT JOSEPH WHITE AT AERIE LODGE
COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. – March. 15, 2024 – Copper Mountain, the Athlete’s Mountain, is thrilled to announce the installation of a captivating custom painting by acclaimed artist Lamont Joseph White in the new Aerie Lodge. The piece was installed and honored with a celebration at Copper Mountain on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
“We're thrilled to showcase an original piece by Lamont Joseph White at the Aerie Lodge,” said Dustin Lyman, President, and General Manager at Copper Mountain. “Having worked with Lamont over the years, we knew he could evoke the soul of Copper Mountain in our new space. His distinctive style captures the vibrant spirit of the mountain and the people who visit here."
The 3.5’ by 9.5’ art installation serves as the focal point for the lodge’s dining area. A place where guests from all over the globe gather to rest and refuel between laps on the mountain. The new art installation “Anticipations” features a diverse group of skiers and riders taking in the sights and sounds of the mountain. The landscape in the image represents the views from the top of the trail, Andy’s Encore and the Ten Mile Canyon, an iconic Copper Mountain vista.
“With Anticipations, I hope to communicate opportunity and welcoming on the mountain, said artist Lamont Joeseph White. “And that each viewer can feel the space is available for them and allow their own freedom of diverse interpretation and connection.”
In addition to the name, “Anticipations”, White shared the following artwork statement which will be displayed on a plaque next to the painting. “Honoring the freedom of our mountains, calling us and the stoke of our response”.
Lamont Joseph White, a native of the New York City metropolitan area, draws inspiration from both modern and traditional artistic approaches, seamlessly blending Classicism and Renaissance influences with elements of impressionism and abstraction. White's journey in the art world has seen him exhibit his work at prestigious venues such as The Society of Illustrators, various New York City metro area galleries, Ski Utah Headquarters, Snowbird resort, Big Sky, Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain, Solitude Mountain and multiple prestigious collectors. His thematic focus on inclusion and diversity has become a hallmark of his work, and Copper is honored to display his latest custom piece “Anticipations”.
The installation event on March 9 was momentous, with Lamont Joseph White attending, alongside resort members, NBS President Henri Rivers, and 80 members from Ski Noir5280. Together, the groups shared a toast to the artistic brilliance, inclusivity on the mountain, and the spirit of winter sports.
